Q: I have seen these cooling Neckbands in the market, what makes your Neckbandoo and other Blubandoo products superior to others?
A: Many of our products are made right here in the USA. The country of origin is listed next to each product on our website. Please note however, regardless of where our product is made, we use the same proprietary formula hydrating crystals in all of our factories. We use only state-of-the-art crystals that hydrate in just 5 minutes. They perform at the highest cooling level available and they don’t break down or dissolve over time. Also, we use only the finest fabrics, made to our specifications. Quality is #1 to us! For example, when making our Neckbandoos, we use only 100% cotton (not poly-cotton) and we turn all seams and finish the ends at an angle. This provides a well-made, high performing and an attractive Neckbandoo! Also, we have over 100 prints immediately available in our Neckbandoos and numerous colors/patterns available in our other products. We offer exclusive designs and utility patented headwear as well. Q: How does humidity affect the Blubandoo product?
A: Humidity does play a factor on the cooling performance of any evaporative product, including Blubandoo, since these products rely on evaporation to create coolness. In extremely humid conditions, we suggest you place your hydrated Blubandoo in the refrigerator or on top of the ice within your ice chest every so often to cool down the gel. Some customers buy two of our products and place one in the cooler while wearing the other. Then, they switch them out every so often as needed. You can also quickly submerge your hydrated Blubandoo in icy/cold water as needed to cool down the gel. Do this for only a few seconds though or you will over hydrate the product. Be sure to blot it dry after doing this quick resubmerge and don't do this repeatedly or the product will become overhydrated. Please note, do not leave your product in the water beyond a flexible shape or the gel will leak through the seams and perhaps, even the fabric. We call this over-hydration. If this occurs and the gel has leaked through the fabric, simply wipe off the excess gel, let your product dry in the open air back to a flexible shape and wear as recommended. We also recommend rotating your Blubandoo while wearing it to accelerate the evaporative cooling process. This can help increase cooling, due to the side on the outside getting more air-flow than the side which is against your skin.
Q: How should I wash my products?
A: It is recommended that you dehydrate your product prior to washing it. This will control the amount of soap residue in the product. Should you not be able to dehydrate the product prior to washing it, spot clean the soiled areas using a tiny amount of diluted liquid hand soap and be sure to rinse out any excess soap. Do not use concentrated detergent or laundry soap to wash your Blubandoo products. Soap residue can irritate the skin if left in your product, which is why we instruct washing with only in diluted liquid hand soap.
Q: Do the product colors bleed?
A: Our product instructions advise that all Blubandoo products be prewashed before wearing. This is especially true of dark colors, such as red. We go to great lengths to use the finest quality fabric available when making our products. We take extra efforts to prevent bleeding. However, regardless of our efforts, dark colors occasionally do bleed. Again, this is our reasoning for asking that you “prewash your product before wearing”. This will remove any excess dye that could bleed onto other fabrics or clothing.
Q: What do I do if I my product is leaking gel?
A: Blubandoos are to be placed in water until the product crystal chambers are filled with gel to create a flexible shape (usually about 5 minutes). Not distributing the crystals evenly within the channels while hydrating or leaving the product in water beyond a flexible shape will cause the gel to continue to expand and ooze through the fabric and seams. We call this overhydrating. If this occurs, this is not a problem so long as fabric seams have not been broken from the expanding gel pressure. We recommend that you simply wipe off and discard (in a trash receptacle) any excess gel from the outside of the fabric. Then, let the product dry in the open air. Over time the gel will begin to reduce (sometimes this can take a few days depending on the level of overhydrating) and you may use your product again as recommended. Our product instructions fully explain proper preparation and use of our Blubandoos. Please follow the proper hydration instructions enclosed with your product and reuse. We warranty against factory defects, however, we cannot warranty against improper use or not following our product instructions.
Q: What is the difference between the Regular Neckbandoo(girl picture) and the Value Neckbandoo(guy picture) versions?
A – We use the same crystals materials and fabric quality in both Regular and Value Neckbandoos. They are also very similar in specification. There are two reasons for the difference in price; the Value Neckbandoos are Made in China and are our basic colors/patterns, the Regular Neckbandoos are mostly Made in the USA and consist of our large variety of fashionable patterns.
Q: My product feels slimy. How did this happen and what do I do?
A: Our instructions state to distribute the crystals (gel) evenly within the channel while hydrating and to hydrate our products only to a flexible shape. Do not overhydrate. Usually hydrating our product takes about 5 minutes. Leaving your product in water beyond a flexible shape and/or not distributing the crystals (gel) evenly within the channel will result in your product leaking gel and your product may feel slimy to the touch. If this occurs, and the product seams are not broken, let your product dry to a flexible shape and wipe and discard any excess gel into a trash receptacle. You may then wear and use your product as recommended in our product instructions. Our product instructions fully explain proper preparation and use of our Blubandoos. Please follow the proper hydration instructions enclosed with your product and reuse. We warranty against factory defects, however, we cannot warranty against improper use or not following our product instructions.
Q: How do I dry out my Blubandoo product and how long does this process take?
A: It is important that your product continues to breath until all the gel is evaporated (dried out) and returned back to its original crystal consistency. To do this, keep your product exposed to the open air. As per our product instructions, do not store it in an enclosed area or a plastic bag! This will cause the product to mildew and/or mold, which is non-repairable. The complete evaporation of your product back to its original crystal consistency may take several days depending on the humidity conditions of where it is stored.
Q: How do I prevent my product from becoming mildewed?
A: The only way that our products will mildew is if they are still wet inside (gel-like) and they are not able to dry out completely. This occurs when air flow is minimized and the product is not in a dry environment. In some cases, depending on humidity conditions, it may take several days for your Blubandoo product to dry out completely and return to its original crystal state. To avoid mildew, do not store your product in an enclosed area (or plastic bag)until all gel returns to its original crystal state. Our product instructions fully explain proper preparation and use of our Blubandoos. Please follow the proper hydration instructions enclosed with your product and reuse. We warranty against factory defects, however, we cannot warranty against improper use or not following our product instructions.
Q: My Neckbandoo feels stiff after drying. How did this happen and what do I do?
A: This is caused due to crystals oozing to the outside of the fabric and then drying. Especially, if you during your last use the product felt slimy. This occurs due to over-hydration, which is caused by not dispersing the crystals evenly while hydrating and/or hydrating the product beyond a flexible shape. Please note below, where we mention our over-hydration warnings and over-hydration remedies as per our product instructions. When over-hydration occurs, the crystals/gel cannot go disperse anywhere except through the fabric. If this occurs, the crystals will leave a slimy residue. When the product then dries the slimy residue becomes hard on the outer fabric which can then cause the product to feel stiff. Also, over-hydration can cause the seams of the product to be compromised and potentially break. Over-hydration causes the crystals/gel can then leak through the seams of the fabric. Here are some details from our product instructions: “OVERHYDRATING AND NOT DISTRIBUTING CRYSTALS (GEL) EVENLY WITHIN THE CHANNEL WILL RESULT IN BLUBANDOOS LEAKING GEL.” If this occurs, let the product dry to a flexible shape and wipe off the gel. Dispose of the excess gel into a trash receptacle. In the case of a stiff Neckbandoo, we suggest you partially rehydrate the product and wipe off the excess gel so you are able to discard it. Once the gel/slimy texture is removed completely, rehydrate and use as recommended.
Q: The crystals in my product have clumped together. Is it defective?
A: The crystals clumping together is not a quality issue. This sometimes happens due to humidity and how the gel evaporates, causing the crystals to coagulate. To remedy this issue simply submerged the product into water as recommended in our product instructions and the crystals will turn into a gel. Then, simply massage the crystals/gel and fill the entire chamber(s) with gel to a flexible shape as per our product instructions. Do not overhydrate.
Q: The cooling substance inside has become dry and cracked. It is no longer cooling. Is this normal?
A – This is entirely normal. The crystals may change in shape after they dry. Simply place your product in water again and follow the product instructions.
Q: What is the hydrating crystal lifespan?
A: Our state-of-the–art hydrating crystals do not wear out! In other words, they will endlessly hydrate and evaporate. We also use only the best fabric/materials and construction available. However, as with any clothing, these areas will show wear and tear after repeated use. Proper care and washing will provide many-many repeated uses of your Blubandoo products.
Q: Your hats are sized S/M, L/XL and one size. What is your Blubandoo sizing range?
A: Please note, our hat sizes vary from our other hats. We have purposefully slightly oversized our hats to compensate for the crystals expanding. Our hats will adjust in size depending on how long the hat and crystals within them are left to swell in the water. The longer they are in the water, the smaller the hat becomes. We request a maximum of 5 minutes and to only a flexible shape. Please note, mineral content of your water can cause the hat to hydrate faster or slower. Please follow the product instructions and monitor your hat while hydrating to avoid over-hydration. Also note, hat sizes of the wearer are sensitive to women or men. Some women have large craniums and some men have small craniums. As a result, our hat sizes are not necessarily gender specific. Our S/M small/medium usually fits approximately size 7 to 7-1/4 hat size(head circumference 21 7/8” – 22 5/8), L/XL large/extra large usually fits approximately hat size 7-3/8 to 7-5/8(head circumference 23” – 24 3/8”) and XXL extra/extra large fits approximately hat size 8-8 1/8. Q: My hat/cap shrunk in size when I hydrated it. What do I do?
A: We oversized our headwear to compensate for the swelling of our gel/crystals. Our instructions state to distribute the crystals (gel) evenly within the channel while hydrating and to hydrate our products only to a flexible shape. Do not overhydrate. Usually, this hydration process takes about 5 minutes. That said, if you leave your hat/cap in water beyond a flexible shape, it will cinch in size and it will become tighter in fit. If this occurs and the product seams are not broken, let the product dry to a flexible shape and the original sizing will be restored. If any gel has seeped through the fabric, wipe and discard the excess gel into a trash receptacle. You may then wear and use your product as recommended.
Q: What happens if I get salt water on my products?
A: If salt water gets on the Blubandoo product it will create a salt residue. Also, the salt water does not react well in hydrating the crystals. Hence, our reasoning for not recommending Blubandoo product exposure to salt water. That said, if salt water gets on your product, we suggest that you rinse it thoroughly with fresh water to help eliminate the salt residue.
Q: What are the crystals made of?
A: Sorry, our crystal ingredients are proprietary, but they are non-toxic and non-hazardous when used as recommended.
Q: How do I buy your products Internationally?
A: We do sell to a few retailers in other countries however, at this time we do not provide direct purchasing for individual orders from other countries.
